Chapter 127 Selected As "Outstanding Chapter In The Nation"
Mended Hearts, Inc., Chapter 127 in Cookeville, Tn. was selected to receive the "President's Cup Award" at the National Mended Hearts Annual Convention in Scottsdale, Arizona in July of 2006.
The Award, recognizing the most outstanding chapter in the nation, is the most prestigious national award that any chapter can receive and is based on membership growth, visiting program, attendance at meetings, effective programs at monthly meetings, community involvement, newsletters, and working with other health organizations.
Chapter 127 has placed more than 40 AED's throughout schools and churches in Cookeville and the hospital's 12-county service area and trained more than 700 individuals in CPR and AED use. It is the fastest growing chapter in the southeast, with membership increasing by seven fold to over 250 members under the leadership of Chapter President, Tom Little.

The Tennessee Hospital Association Service Awards Ceremony at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel and Convention Center in November of 2007 offered a personal surprise for attending Chapter 127 President, Tom Little. Tom was recognized for his leadership to the heart program at Cookeville Regional Medical Center and the City of Cookeville with the placement of automated external defibrillators (AED's) throughout the community.

More recently, In 2008 Chapter President, Tom Little, was recognized as the Southeastern Mended Heart Of The Year" and Chapter 127 was selected as the "runner-up" as National Chapter of the Year during 2008.
