Mended Hearts, Inc., Chapter 127
Cookeville, Tennessee 38501
Cardiac Rehabilitation Support Program
Members of Chapter 127 support the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program of Cookeville Regional Medical Center through the purchase and donation of additional rehabilitation exercise and training equipment such as treadmills, exercise bikes, Nu-Step machines, and elliptical bikes. These add to an extensive variety of aids within the CRMC Rehab Center to help patients recover from cardiac surgery and gain in aerobic and physical fitness.
During all rehab sessions, vital signs such as pulse, blood pressure, and rhythm are constantly monitored by medical staff and technicians to insure a safe and gradual approach to rebuilding cardiac functions.
Beth Slatten, Rehab Center nurse, assists recovering cardiac patient, Amelia Kendrick, by monitoring blood pressure before and during sessions at the CRMC Rehab Center.
Additionally, Chapter 127 may sponsor cardiac patients by aiding in funding for rehabilitation sessions where they have been previously evaluated by rehab specialists and then referred to the Chapter for possible assistance because they either do not have the personal financial means or not covered by health insurance programs.
